Your save

Chapter 1 saves automatically in this browser using local storage. It contains your investigation, conversations, drafts and preferences. It remains until you restart or remove the website’s data. It does not synchronise between devices. A separate random identifier helps protect character messaging against excessive requests. Your save and the identifier are needed to provide the game you requested.

Optional play statistics

Statistics are off until you choose Allow statistics. Declining has no effect on the game. With your consent we record a random browser identifier, sessions, active play time, device category, a broad traffic source, discovered clues, feature use, sent-message counts, calls, a small set of game choices, intended screen disturbances, error categories and completion. We do not include chat text, your real name, raw referring URLs, precise location or advertising identifiers in these statistics. We do not collect geography.

The statistics identifier expires after 30 days; the session marker is held for the tab and renewed after 30 minutes of inactivity. Your yes/no preference is remembered for 180 days. Statistics cover participating browsers, not every visitor or verified individual. One player using multiple browsers may be counted more than once.

Feedback and support

Submitting feedback is optional and asks for separate consent. We store the text you send, the category, device category, number of solved requirements and your optional answers about future chapters. Reports are visible to the EKO operator, not publicly posted. Simple categories and troubleshooting replies are automatic; they can be wrong and do not mean an issue has been fixed. Please do not include real names, contact details or sensitive information. A private receipt stored on this device lets you check or delete your most recent report.

Character conversations

Messages to the fictional characters are sent to EKO’s game service and the configured OpenAI language-model service to generate replies. Relevant conversation history and game context are included. This is separate from optional statistics. Do not share secrets or sensitive personal information with game characters. They are fictional and their statements are part of the story.

Storage, hosting and retention

The website uses ChatGPT Sites and Cloudflare hosting and storage. These providers process network requests needed to deliver and protect the site, including network information. EKO’s own rate-limit counters use short-lived hashed network identifiers; raw IP addresses are not stored in the game database. Optional statistics and feedback expire after 30 days, are excluded from reports after expiry, and are removed during routine service cleanup. Provider infrastructure logs follow the providers’ own retention settings; EKO does not claim to control those settings.

Your choices and rights

Open Help & feedback → Privacy choices at any time to withdraw statistics consent or delete statistics linked to this browser. You can also delete your most recent feedback report. These controls do not delete your game save. To request access, correction or deletion of another report, send a private Privacy request and include only the information needed to identify it. If you clear your identifier or receipt first, we may no longer be able to identify your records. You may complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection, IMY.

Optional statistics and feedback are processed on consent, which you can withdraw. The save, character service and short-lived abuse prevention are used to provide and protect the requested game. No data is sold and there are no advertising trackers added by EKO.
